The Alchemist

Synopsis:
An occult novella about an unhappily married girl, Moll Deadman, who is lured by the Mephistophelean figure of the alchemist into a murky and sometimes surreal world of conspiracy and murder.

Ultimately, she becomes a paid assassin – until her emotional involvement with a prospective victim leads her to try and break free.

Published by Faber in the prestigious Introduction series, a collection showcasing the work of new writers supposedly of literary interest.

Others who have made a first appearance there include Alan Coren, Tom Stoppard and Kazuo Ishiguro.
